The 2nd Amendment: Guns and Politics

Well everybody, gun control and the 2nd amendment has become the flavor of the month this time, again bringing out people from two sides like two fighters in an MMA match. You have in one corner people in favor of better gun control and in the other corner you have people who are arguing that it will interfere with their 2nd amendment rights. Plus you have the people in the stands cheering on their favorite fighter. Oh and don't forget the one who's promoting the fight.

What's funny is that a battle is going on over something that could be settled by talking it out. I mean really do we have to actually fight about the whole thing? If you ask some of the people from both sides they would tell you "yes" but I'm not too sure about that. I'm not too sure that we have to fight, I just think that people just need a chance to be heard and a solution should be reached that would be in the best interest of everybody.

Let's start with the whole ban of assault rifles thing. I have to be totally honest there are some pros and cons to this. I mean sure it might just cut down on the number of people that could be shot but honestly people will still be shot. Not every mass shooting that has happened actually concerned the use of an assault weapon. Some concerned just semi automatic hand guns, or shot guns and some bastard with a whole lot of ammo.

Plus mass shootings didn't just start, they have been going on for a long time. Drive by shootings are a good example of this. How many people do you think were injured or killed as a result of some asshole driving by and just spraying out shots because their intended target just happened to be in sight? I'm sure that there have been quite a few.

Also, let's consider the public shootings of people that have happened in a crowd of people in which the weapon wasn't an assault weapon and it was just a plain hand gun in the hands of a determined shooter. Assassinations are just a prime example of that fact. I'm sure that any one who has been a victim of assassination or an assassination attempt could tell you that. My point is that banning weapons is not a way to lower the chances of mass shootings or even killing to happen because it will just leave room for a determined mind to find another way and that other way could claim more lives.

You would have people tell you that they need assault weapons for home protection or even defense. Well what I have to say to that is that the argument is pure bullshit. I mean what would you need a weapon that has the possibility of killing more than one person with a single shot or even going through cement or metal? How is that for home protection? What are you thinking about, shooting a dangerous intruder and hoping for some of those rounds to accidentally hit that neighbor that you don't like in the process? Honestly really?

To use the argument of assault weapons for home defense, is nothing more than like using a banana to tame a lion. It serves no purpose and it makes you look like a jackass.

2nd Amendment
The right to bear arms.

The honest truth is that assault weapons are used pretty much what they are named for assault. They are not meant for home protection, they are actually meant for war and in some cases hunting. People can shout to the mountain tops how much these assault weapons are needed for home defense or self defense but it's just bullshit. I mean who in the hell expects a crowd of mother fuckers to break in their house or attack them in public? I know I don't. The only people like that are people that have wronged a bunch of people and they are paranoid that all of those people will gang up on their asses.

No person that's in their right mind would even think of using an assault weapon as protection for their home or even themselves. I know this because I'm a veteran that has shot pretty much every weapon known to man. I know their capabilities and believe me, assault weapons are not something that you want to use for home defense or even self defense because the possibilities for harming an innocent person is more than likely.

Do I want to take away someone's right to own one? No I don't but I do want to stress the fact that using the argument that it's for defense is bullshit unless your ass is planning on fighting a goddamn war.

These are weapons that you have when you are planning on going to war, to fucking hunt something that you can't hit with one shot because you can't fucking shoot straight, get attacked by a whole bunch of fucking people or start some kind of trouble. They should be the last weapons you think about when trying to rationally defend yourself.

And for you dumb mother fuckers talking about needing assault weapons for a zombie apocalypse, go see a goddamned psychiatrist. That shit is not going to happen. If it does happen, it is more than likely that the matter will be contained and your ass will not even know about it because it will be stopped before it happens.

The whole thing comes down to this in a nutshell, we have to come up with shit that actually fucking works. We can make all the laws we want to and have all the different kinds of guns we want to but it won't really stop anything from happening. It can just slow it down but that's only if we do things that will actually fucking work.

We have to come to the realization that there are certain things that we can control and certain things that we can try to control but we can't totally control them. Sometimes it's like a crap shoot, we can throw the dice and just hope that the dice roll what we are shooting for.

I know this is America but I would like to hit up on something that I've noticed. Canada is a good example of a country that has as much guns, or maybe even more as America or anywhere else, but they don't have the problems we do as far as killing and everything. Honestly, when is the last time that you heard of Canadians having problems like we do? I'm just stating fact, that's all.

I just had to throw that in there but back to the matter at hand

We have to really come up with something that works. I mean taking sides and fighting like two MMA fighters is not going to help anything at all. When you are dealing with something like this, it calls for people to actually talk about what's going on and not fight about it.

safety
Everyone should learn gun safety.

I think one of the reasons that something like this keeps coming up, is because the people making the decisions don't consider the endless possibilities that could happen. And I have to say in their defense that they only have what they have to work with. So I again say that education is a big factor. I don't mean just education with books but with people and experience.

I personally think that when it comes to something like this it should be a time when our elected officials actually act rationally. I actually think that issues like this shouldn't be just about emotion, or even a platform, it should be about what's in the best interest of everybody. There shouldn't be any taking sides here because that does nothing but just throw dirt over the problem until it pops up again, like a plant that's fighting it's way out of the soil.

When dealing with this issue, actual effective solutions should be in the forefront. It shouldn't be about what's popular just like things seem to be. It seems like every mother fucker that wants to get some kind of re-election, even election, or popularity is more worried about their numbers than they are really concerned about doing their job or the issue at hand. Don't even get me started on that.

The point of the matter is that when people take sides, instead of actually trying to come to a mutual and effective agreement about something, doesn't really help to solve the problem. All it does is become a knock down, drag out fight that really doesn't solve anything, it just postpones it until the situation arises again. Nothing more nothing less.

It's time that we actually come up with real rational solutions and not bandwagon slogans or campaigns that do nothing more than make some self righteous asshole popular. I mean we have to really look at things as they is and not what somebody makes them out to be.

For instance the mass shootings that we've had lately and even the predecessors should serve as evidence that something actually needs to be done to at least try to prevent things like this from happening again. And the honest truth is that we can try that's all we can do.

I mean let's just say that we take away all the guns in the world. Truth be told people were getting killed long before guns were even invented. So taking away people's 2nd amendment rights wouldn't be a solution that would cut down on murder because an mother fucker that wanted to kill somebody would just find another way to do it. Mass murderers do not have to use guns to kill people, they can poison people if they wanted to and there are ways of doing it.

And for all of you thinking that the government is trying to take away your 2nd amendment rights, they are not, point blank. What they are trying to do is make it harder on people that shouldn't have access to guns to gain access to guns. That's all nothing more nothing less.

Now, I do agree that the ban on assault weapons won't guarantee that they won't somehow find their way to the streets or even in the hands of somebody that shouldn't have access to guns or any weapon for that matter. I don't have to bring up the whole Treyvon Martin situation do I? Remember George Zimmerman wasn't supposed to legally be able to carry a gun but somehow through the magic of his family having money, he was authorized to have a concealed weapon permit even after reports of him assaulting a police officer.

I'm not going into the whole thing about that because the media and news outlets are doing just fine by themselves and I'm not hear to report the news. I'm not a reporter and really don't want to be.

A friend said something to me that makes a lot of sense and that's "you can ban guns all you want but you can't stop crazy people from being born." That's a true statement. You take all the weapons out of the hands of people but that will not stop a determined demented mind from attempting to kill or harm people. All you can do is try to prevent it that's all you can do.

What it all boils down to, when you really look at it, is that we can only do so much when it comes to the whole situation of gun control and even the 2nd amendment. There are always going to be some misguided crazy mother fucker out there doing some stupid shit like killing people for no reason. There will always be some assholes out there trying to capitalize off of it. There will always be some dumbass doing something that they don't have any business doing, it's just a part of life.

If we really want to do something that would be in the best interest of everybody, we would find ways to keep it from getting to the point where we are experiencing fatalities like these mass shootings as well as miscellaneous shootings that go on.

I'm all for our 2nd amendment rights but we do have to do something about these guys that decide that it's ok for them to start shooting because the feeling hits them. We have to do something about people who feel like it's ok to take a life just because they want to and not in defense of their own lives.

I know that you have people on both sides of the conduit trying to sway everybody one way. I know that but the truth is there should be no sides when it comes to this issue, when it comes to the issue of safety.

Take away everybody's guns and that doesn't ensure that they wouldn't be able to get another one, that's for sure. There will always be ways for them to get one or even find other ways to do something to a mass amount of people. Like I said before a determined mind can pull off pretty much anything. So taking away guns would do nothing more than just put people in more danger.

In contrast, arming everybody with guns wouldn't really solve the problem neither.

I remember hearing something about arming everybody with a gun and that way you wouldn't have to worry about somebody committing a crime. Well if we look back in history a lot of people carried guns in the old west and that did nothing to keep people from shooting each other.

Plus you have to look at the main fact that not everyone should be allowed to legally carry a gun. They shouldn't readily have access to guns neither.

Guns are something that doesn't belong in the hands of everybody. There are just certain people that shouldn't really be afforded the right to bear arms but let the truth be told the law is not perfect and there is a lot of flaws. No matter what we come up with there will still be some part that we haven't covered.

The only thing that we can do is just do the best we can. Taking sides in this issue won't really do anything to help the situation out because it will just keep coming up again and again.

Like I said this issue is not about taking sides, it should be about actually coming up with a solution that works. It calls for people actually getting together and coming up with something that would actually work, not attacking each other like two people is a boxing match.

Yes people should have the right to defend themselves but in the same retrospect there should be some kind of restrictions. With rights come responsibility. When we learn that I'm sure that we won't have situations going on like we have had recently.

This is a time when those who we have elected should be putting their heads together to come up with a solution that would help everyone. A solution that would protect those who need protection and make those pay for the violation of those rights. What needs to be done is what's in the best interest of all and not just a certain few. It's time that we stop bullshitting and actually start doing something that would better serve a purpose.
