Riot Whores

Riot Whores is focused on punk bitches who can't get enough. The site shows promise and the content is excellent, but it hasn't been updated since June of 2006—that's nearly a year at the time of this review—and there are only 19 updates on the site. I think your best bet is to treat this site as a standalone as-is site, and enjoy it along with the other 40 sites that come with your membership. Let's check it out.

The layout is pretty much what I expected—nicely done like most of the other Meat Members sites, all in black and white. The latest three updates are shown prominently at the top of the page, and each one has three thumbnails to show pivotal moments in the action. They also have names, dates, descriptions, and links to the content which includes screencaps, hi-res pics, and videos.

First off, I wasn't able to find any hi-res pics on the site even though every update links to them. They simply link to an empty page—I'd rather see them unlink the text so that it's clear there's nothing there. It's misleading and deceptive, and no member will appreciate that. This problem extends network-wide, so you won't escape it on any of the other Meat Members sites either, unfortunately.

The screencaps don't share that problem—they're plentiful and consistent. Some are a little blurrier than I'd like to see, but they're nice and large at 720 x 480 pixels, and they look pretty damn good. There are at least 400 screencaps for each update, which is cool, and you can obtain all of them via zip file. This means that you can save them to your hard drive, back them up on CDs, do whatever the hell you want to do with them—and you can get them all in just one click. I love that.

I'd give just about anything to get a full movie download from any of the sites on the Meat Members network, but just like all the others, Riot Whores only offers you segmented downloads. The good news however is that you can get them in low or high quality files, both in Windows Media format (WMV) and Quicktime format (MPEG).

One of the nicer and most intuitive features is the drop down menu on the top and bottom of every page. It takes you to any site within the Meat Members network that you could ever possibly want to view. You do get 40+ sites with your membership—so no matter which site in the network you sign up for, you're getting a full network membership.

I think the only possible downside to the drop down menu is that not every site has it. There are a few that still implement an older layout, so unless you hit back once you're on those sites, you can't get to that drop down menu to continue your tour through all the sites. Hopefully soon all of the sites will employ the same layout, or they'll simply drop the ones that don't.

Overall I'd give this site a 76/100. It's got a few too many drawbacks to get my full recommendation, though it's not bad for a little side trip away from the other sites in the Meat Members network. 30 days will cost you $29.95, and 90 days will be just $59.95, which basically gives you a whole month free. It's a great network, but a sub par site. Think of it as a network membership, not a solo site, and you'll be just fine.
